I love The Changing of the Guard which is essentially It's a Wonderful Life with a retired teacher. The Monsters are Due on Maple Street is one of the first episodes I've ever seen and I still love the interplay of paranoia.

I really like it. the very first show they did on the first season was a total copy of the BBC version and it was terrible. But since then, it has branched off to form its own form of comedy. They are about halfway through the 2nd season and it just gets funnier and funnier. The humor is definately more...well, American.
