Why is Bill Ubel smiling during the funeral scene?
It's bugged me from viewing one on, it's a sad scene, and Bill smiling estatically in the background doesn't fit it at all.
Ideas?

Kumar - heh. Nice use of new emoticon.
I thought he was putting on a brave face. Or, you know how you hlaugh sometimes when you hear sad things/ A nervous reaction. Or, maybe he's out of his mind. Heh. "Theres never any time to have too much self-doubt" - Wes Anderson |

I think he just found some of Steve's secret stash. Zissou had an awful lot of the reefer just sort of lying about on the Belafonte.

Awesome Pirate emoticon.
I tried to think of a scene in which Bill Ubell didn't appear to be smiling. He seems to have a smiley little face. Maybe he's into saving his muscular strength, and smiling all of the time, rather than intermittent energy expenditures on frowns. Or else, I like a mix of Kumar's and Purple's explanations. "And that's the whole idea of the film: it's a fake documentary; it's about fake secrecy. It's really important to me that it's all transparent, all totally coy. It's about what happens when you keep secrets, because they're transparent anyhow. Things will come out one way or another, and just because they come out doesn't mean they are true." - Jennifer Montgomery |

Speaking of Harold,
have you read any of the stuff of Bud Cort talking about Harold & Maude? Kind of sad... what a great movie (my wife hates it... tear). |
